This is where you can ask questions, pick up ideas and see how other people use their oils day to day. No question is too small.
Book your welcome call
Once your parcel arrives, your advocate will sit down with you (in person, on Zoom or on the phone) and go through each product with you. It takes about 45 minutes, and it's the part most people say made everything click. If you haven't picked a time yet, just reply to their message.
Before you open anything: have a quick read of the safety basics on the next page. Essential oils are very concentrated, and a few simple habits make all the difference.
Your kit might not include every oil below. Just look at the ones you've got. Tap an oil to see how to use it.
Single oils
LavenderCalm, soft and floral. A great first oil if you're not sure where to start.
Diffuse in the evening to help the house wind down. Lovely with a drop or two of Wild Orange.
Put a drop on your pillow or make a pillow spray with water in a small glass spray bottle.
Add to a carrier oil for a relaxing hand, foot or shoulder massage.
Care: one of the gentlest oils, but still dilute it for children and sensitive skin.
PeppermintCool, fresh and wakeful.
Diffuse while you're working or studying for a fresh, focused feel.
Dilute and rub on the back of your neck or shoulders after a long day.
Add to a carrier oil for a cooling foot rub on a warm evening.
Care: strong stuff. Always dilute, keep it well away from eyes, and don't use it on the face or chest of young children.
LemonBright, clean and uplifting.
Diffuse first thing in the morning for a fresh start to the day.
Add to water and a splash of white vinegar in a glass spray bottle for a simple kitchen cleaner.
A drop on a cloth lifts sticky label residue and greasy marks from the hob.
Care: citrus oils make skin more sensitive to sunlight, so avoid the sun on any skin you've applied it to for 12 hours. Citrus can also soften some plastics, so use glass.
Tea TreeClean, fresh and herbal. Sometimes listed as Melaleuca in recipes.
Add a drop to your usual face wash or moisturiser.
Use it in your homemade cleaning sprays.
Add a few drops to the wash when your gym kit needs freshening up.
Care: keep the lid on tight. Tea Tree fades faster than most oils once it's been opened, so aim to use it within a year.
OreganoHot, powerful and herby. A little goes a very long way.
Add a drop to a large amount of carrier oil for a warming foot rub on cold winter nights.
Add a drop to a heavy-duty cleaning spray.
Care: this is a "hot" oil. Never put it on skin undiluted, and keep it away from children. If in doubt, ask your advocate before you use it.
FrankincenseWarm, woody and grounding. One of the most treasured oils in the collection.
Add a drop to your day or night cream.
Diffuse during quiet time, prayer, journalling or meditation.
Layer it with other oils in a blend. It pairs well with almost anything.
Care: gentle on skin. It's precious, so a drop is plenty.
Blends
BreatheFresh, minty and clearing.
Diffuse in the bedroom on winter nights.
Put a drop in your palms, cup them over your nose and take a few slow breaths.
Dilute and rub on the chest or upper back (adults and older children).
Care: keep away from eyes and don't use on the chest of young children.
Deep BlueCool then warming. Made for tired, hard-working muscles.
Massage diluted into muscles after exercise, gardening or a long day on your feet.
Keep the rub or stick in your gym bag.
Care: for skin only. Wash your hands afterwards and keep it away from eyes.
DigestZenWarm, spicy and comforting.
After a big meal, dilute a drop and massage it clockwise around your tummy.
Keep it in the car or your bag for long journeys and breathe it in from your hands.
Care: always dilute when you use it on skin.
On GuardWarm and spicy. It smells like Christmas.
Diffuse through the autumn and winter months.
Add a few drops to your cleaning spray for worktops and door handles.
Dilute and rub on the soles of your feet when you're travelling.
Care: it contains "hot" oils like cinnamon and clove, so always dilute it on skin. There's a whole On Guard range too, including toothpaste, hand wash and cleaner.
Wild OrangeSunny, sweet and cheerful. Summer in a bottle.
Diffuse on its own or add it to almost any blend to brighten it up.
Breathe it in from your hands when you need a lift.
Care: like all citrus oils, keep skin you've used it on out of the sun for 12 hours.
BalanceWoody, earthy and steadying.
Roll or rub on the soles of your feet or wrists first thing in the morning.
Use it as part of a calm bedtime or school-morning routine with children (well diluted).
Care: for skin and diffusing only.
AdaptivSoft, fresh and soothing for busy days.
Diffuse at your desk or in the car (with the window cracked).
Keep the roller in your bag and use it on your wrists when things get hectic.
Care: for skin and diffusing only.
Safety basics
Dilute. Mix oils with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil before you put them on skin, especially for children, older people and sensitive skin.
Patch test a new oil on a small area of skin first.
Citrus and sunshine don't mix. Keep skin that's had citrus oils on it out of the sun for 12 hours.
Hot oils (Oregano, Cinnamon, Clove, Cassia, Thyme and blends that contain them) always need diluting well.
Children: use gentle oils, dilute well and check the age guidance on the label.
Pets: when you diffuse, leave a door open so they can leave the room. Don't put oils on your pets without asking your vet.
Pregnant, breastfeeding, on medication or managing a health condition? Have a chat with your GP or midwife before you start.
Storage: keep lids on tight and bottles somewhere cool and dark, out of reach of children. Citrus oils are best used within about a year. Most others last for years.
Where to keep them
The oils you use most are the ones you can see. Try keeping calming oils by the bed, citrus and cleaning oils in the kitchen, and a couple of favourites in your bag or car.
If you ordered supplements
Supplements work best when you take them consistently, so pick a time of day that fits your routine and stick with it. Follow the directions on the label, and give it a few months before you judge how you're getting on.
Our lifestyle class
This is a friendly online session that shows you how to fit your oils into everyday life. Lots of people tell us it's when they really started using their oils rather than just admiring them.
Handy extras
The EO Guide app is a quick reference for looking up oils and ideas on the go.
And a little welcome gift from us: 100 everyday ways to use your oils. You can save it or print it to keep.
Saving on your next order
Most people find they want to reorder a few favourites. The Loyalty Rewards Program (LRP) is dōTERRA's way of rewarding regular orders. We'll go through it properly at your next catch-up, but here's the short version.
You choose what goes in your order each month, and you can change it whenever you like.
You earn points back on what you spend, and the percentage goes up the longer you stay on the programme.
There's a free product each month when your order reaches the qualifying amount.
You can change the date, skip or cancel at any time. Just use up your points first.
We'll catch up again in a couple of weeks to see how you're getting on.
This is the easiest way to keep your favourites topped up and get rewarded for it. Your advocate can set it up with you on your catch-up call. Here's how it works:
Log in to your dōTERRA account and open the loyalty order section.
Add the things you use every day: oils running low, toothpaste, supplements, cleaner, whatever suits you.
Choose the day of the month you'd like it to go out.
Save it. You can change it, skip a month or cancel whenever you like.
Tip: think of it as the shopping you'd be doing anyway, swapped for products you love, with points back each time.
